I'm always fastinated with this kind of moment which is based on real life! And it is a masterpeice!

After reading through the comments I'm no longer sure you want me to respond with an opinion and vote for the deleteme group - uh - you sure you want the kind of agressive feedback that's coming to you if you leave it here?

Decisive Moments... Classics in B&W I would love to have your photo added to the group.

Blanque says :18/Nov/2005 06:13:20
that's right - people always change their look when a camera is watching them. that's why I like your picture so much - people seem to be uninterrupted, they just go on with their work, feel their emotions without paying intention to the camera.

|5ubst@nc3| says :17/Nov/2005 22:17:34
@Blanque: Thank You. You are most kind. =) I always try not to interfere in the scene. It's very hard, because people change when they see a camera...

Blanque says :17/Nov/2005 15:21:44
just love this picture! I like pictures, where moments of movements are captured - it doesn't look like people pose for it, they just do what they do - working, laughing, etc. you're a very good photographer!

I would have liked it more when it was in color, although the blcak and white makes me think of something ancient! The fish splashing is great! I say great

reefgrl81 says :29/Oct/2005 09:29:57
this is a real shot. the expression on the far left-handed woman's face: so full of concentration and so somber. excellent - you have captured an essence. i say great!

For me its great. I love the details - so clear - the fsh out of the water and the spray - wonderful catch of a moment.

*steve_gobeil* says :21/Oct/2005 15:26:46
I am going with almost because of the flatness of the water and the lack of detail in the background. Contrast would have helped this image a lot.

amazing shot.. Dad loves to fish on his free time ... he is a great fisherman i used to go with him to the sea and try to catch some fish...

laurenz says :21/Oct/2005 13:30:41
All the action reminds me a bit of the famous Dalí painting depicting tuna fishing, but in black and white this is quite aesthetic! Beautiful shot! I'm not bothered by the arm, but by the person directly behind the face. But then, you usually can't choreograph an event like this... The only other improvement I can think of would be a little more light on the face of the man in the foreground, but in a situation like this, fill-flash may not have been an option.

Gurugo says :21/Oct/2005 09:14:18
I'll have to say "almost there", because: 1) I've seen better from you and the colour you have in the rest of the series is a bonus; and 2) there's this bodyless arm on the left side of the picture... Don't get me wrong, this is still a wonderful picture, in particular those splashes!

Ms Kat says :21/Oct/2005 06:37:29
I will go with the others and say great! The fish is fantastic, and I love the way you captured the splashes.

The "we" and back-and-forthness on the "delete me" area seems rather like a chore and an annoyance 5ubxt@nc3! Jesus, i received a headache from reading the banter - more importantly, it wasted my time and competed to take the joy I feel from this photo. YAWN! Remember, we take photos for OUR enjoyment! Don't lose this sentiment. Seems like the "delete me" crowd prefer rules to this sentiment, and also come prefer to get bogged down the in the quagmire of rules and regulations. Everything is relative, after all. Sorry, can't stand non-constructive criticism. I personally enjoy this photo greatly for the texture, light, centre stage "splash" & great "floppy fish". Then agian I am nobody in particular. However, for your new group, I choose the "great shot" - or whatever category you have specified. The one that says this is ace, basically!

You're welcome, good to meet you and thanks for understanding where we're coming from. :)

@brendadada: I will take a peak. It's not my league, but I'll try to learn from them. Thanks, once again.

brendadada says :20/Oct/2005 08:52:17
Actually, I like your work. It doesn't take an expensive camera or lots of experience to take a great shot. Some of my favourites are taken on toy cameras or very old manual SLRs. It's the photographer that counts. This is a game, you know, and it's important to take the comments lightheartedly. But it's also important to play it by the rules, as I'm sure you know. You might like CAFE if you are after more serious criticism. You start a thread with your picture title, and a thumbnail of your shot. The quality of the critique there is very high, and I think you might get more from a group like that. It's best to lurk for a while to see how they do things, they also have rules. :) Go well, and good luck!

|5ubst@nc3| says :20/Oct/2005 08:39:47
@brendadada: I beelieve you all well intendded, bt you seem an exception. Everytime I submit some photo to the group, I get some good advice, and a few saves. But suddenly I get the ddeletes from the same 4 or 5 guys [I'm sure you know who I'm talking about] and then thaty start to say things like "I can't understand how a shitty picture like this gets a save". I'm really tired of that. I'm not saying my work is good [Just check my profile, if you want: I'm the first to admit I'm an amateur with zero technical knowledge, no good eye, nor a nice camera] but I think I have the right to take pictures and it's not my fault people like my work [even you, acording to yourself]. I can remove those save tags, offcourse, and I now they will imeddiately add the 5 delete tags waiting for me, no problem and their "boring"... "sucks" comments. But I wouldd prefer real criticism, because I would'nt submit a picture that I thought was really crap. Thank You for you kind explanations.

brendadada says :20/Oct/2005 08:32:26
I'm not trying to say anything at all. It's a very simple matter. There were 7 delete comments and 2 save comments. It is a shame that people have added tags without being a member of the group, I take your word for it that they did. But you can remove them. There is a little x next to each one. The last save comment was from Superchou and her automatic bookmarklet registered a save 8. That means 7 people before her added save tags without making a comment. Only you know who all these people are, but if there is no comment, that doesn't matter. There were no more saves after Superchou. Don't misunderstand, I like your photography very much, and you have a lot to offer. I like this particular shot, it works well in black and white. It is a simple matter to clear this up. In the meantime, I think you are wise to take a rest.

|5ubst@nc3| says :20/Oct/2005 08:27:21
@brendadada: I explained what happen to you. Unfortunately I have no time to send an email to everyone asking them to coment their tag. You're trying to say I put the tags there my self. Okay. May be I created 16 flickr accounts too, just to add the favs. I don't need that. I just wanted people to look at my amateur work, teach me something and tell if it had some merit. I'm sorry if my work just upsets you, in some way I don't understand.

brendadada says :20/Oct/2005 08:19:55
That's entirely your choice, but please remove the picture with only two saves from the Folio. Fwiw, I really like this one, and think you have a good contribution to make to the group. But a tag needs a comment to go with it, from a member of the group. You know that, I'm sure.

|5ubst@nc3| says :20/Oct/2005 08:17:55
I am no longer a membre of The Delete me Groups! It's true I got a lot of good advice, generous complimments, and more than a hand full of pictures into the SAFE and the FOLIO... but I'm tired of this constant battle of people that hate other people just because they prefer the work of this flat camera amateur!

|5ubst@nc3| says :20/Oct/2005 08:15:03
@brendadada: Okay. I got it. I'm no longer a membre of your group. You just don't like pictures to get to the Safe. All I want is to get good advice, and I'm glad a few of my pictures got to The Safe. This one did. It HAS GOT 10 save and 16 favorites. But I don't need pure/ shameless envy. Bye

brendadada says :20/Oct/2005 07:58:08
If there's no comment, just remove the tag. Simple. You know it didn't get 10 saves, so it should not be in the Folio, simple as that. I can understand that you might have made a mistake, but best to correct it before going forward, hmm?

|5ubst@nc3| says :20/Oct/2005 07:53:05
@brendadada: I don't know why, but people add it as a fav, and a save tag, and don't comment. Even the imaculate mygigi did it! How do I convince them to come back and explain why they love this picture?!
