If you look closely you can see a sliver of silver in the water to the right of this Bald Eagle's talons. That sliver is the fish the eagle grabbed an instant later. Taken today (Dec. 14, 2007) at Conowingo Dam in Maryland.

This is such a trophy for you! We live on the Arkansas River just below Keystone Dam in Oklahoma and go to the back of our property to watch the magnificent birds fish. I have never been able to get the shot you did. I did get a shot of one sitting on a telephone pole at the front of our property watching ducks in our neighbors pond. I applaud you! Great work.
Wonderful capture! Love to see this photo in the Predator Contest in the Avian Photography Group.

I knew of course
I'd seen Wing-Flash
Silver catch
In dreamtime on the moon
He sang of wild claw speeds
Silver lights
Swishes and a fish he'd be
Catching soon
Did you know - I said
An eagle went to
The far white globe , that
Lit sphere egg in the sky ?
No fish there were
But it landed man there
And only the Moon God
Heard its screech
And victory cry ...
It was silver and metal winged
And its claws
Grasped sands of a million years
That were coloured and meteor banded
And the men proudly said
To the Great Winged spirit :
"The Eagle has landed ..."
.
